The open joint stock company (JSC) TransContainer, a subsidiary of JSC Russian Railways, was registered on 4 March 2006. Prior to that, it had existed as the Russian Railways’ branch “Centre for the Transport of Goods in Containers (TransContainer).” The company started its business operations on 1 July 2006.
Today JSC TransContainer is the largest container operator of Russia: the company employs more than 5,000 people and owns 47 terminals in Russia’s major freight centres, with its 17 branches covering the entire Russian railway network.
